Abstract

The global workforce is changing as a result of the rapid advancements in automation and artificial intelligence (AI), which present both benefits and difficulties. This study explores the various ways that technology and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the job market, generating new job categories, and replacing certain old ones. Automation and artificial intelligence (AI) are driving innovation, productivity, and efficiency across a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, finance, and retail. However, these advantages come at the expense of a large labor displacement, especially for repetitive and regular jobs.

This chapter examines the combined effects of automation and artificial intelligence, emphasizing the industries most impacted by these changes in technology. For example, the usage of robots and AI-driven systems in manufacturing has increased, which has resulted in the displacement of assembly line workers but also increased the need for highly qualified technicians and AI specialists. AI-driven catboats and automated customer care platforms are transforming client interactions in the service sector, eliminating the need for human intervention while necessitating new skills in AI management.

The socioeconomic effects of these developments are also discussed in the research, with special attention to the growing skills gap and the necessity of reskilling and upskilling the labor force. This chapter offers a detailed perspective of the influence of AI and automation on jobs through an in-depth analysis of the literature and case studies, providing insights into strategies for developing an inclusive and resilient workforce in the age of AI.
